As I'm sure you are aware, today is February 19th, "National Mascara Day" or "National Lash Day" to "to promote the importance of proper eyelash care." I don't know what you're doing, but my family and I usually get together, do a sort of potluck-style celebration, maybe set off some fireworks.
Obviously none of that happens and I realize this is an arbitrary day created so that beauty content creators and marketing folks can more easily schedule and promote their content. So guess who else is jumping on this band wagon? Yep, me.
Let's get right into it. Mascara has been used for decades to enhance the appearance of eyelashes. A good mascara can transform your lashes, making them look longer, fuller, and more defined. It can make your eyes look bigger and more vibrant.
Let's talk about what makes a good mascara and how to choose the best one for your needs. Then I will share some of my favorite mascaras.
Mascara Types & Formulas
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a mascara is the formula. There are many different types of mascara formulas available, including lengthening, volumizing, curling, waterproof, and smudge-proof. Each formula has its own unique benefits, and the best one for you will depend on your personal preferences and needs.
Lengthening mascaras are designed to make your lashes appear longer and more defined. They usually contain fibers or other ingredients that help to extend the length of your lashes. Volumizing mascaras, on the other hand, are designed to make your lashes look thicker and more full. They often contain ingredients like wax or collagen that help to plump up your lashes. Curling mascaras are designed to help your lashes hold a curl. They often contain ingredients like resin or silicone that help to set your lashes in place.
Waterproof mascaras are perfect for those who want to ensure that their mascara stays put, even in wet or humid conditions. They are often more resistant to smudging and flaking than regular mascaras.
Mascara Brush
Another important factor to consider when choosing a mascara is the brush. The brush plays a crucial role in the application of the mascara, and different brushes can create different effects. My Favorite Mascaras
In general, I am a fan of tarte products because they go out of their way to use natural ingredients that nourish and fortify skin, keratin and follicles.
